Disciplinary Harassment Counseling Services in Oregon

PORTLAND | EUGENE  | SALEM

Oregon employers are facing mounting pressure to immediately step in and carry out the required documented action whenever incidents of workplace harassment or misconduct take place. In case the internal investigation yields a proven violation, where termination is not the immediate sanction, disciplinary counseling is an alternative, whereupon the path forward can be clearly laid down.

We provide employee counseling sessions that are held in person, one-on-one, to address the issues regarding misconduct and the legal, procedural, and behavioral failures behind it. These sessions are not of a preventive nature, rather are intended as discipline and serve to mitigate liability, reinforce expectations, and record that there have been efforts to maintain compliance.

Disciplinary Harassment Counseling Includes:

  • Private post-incident sessions with a certified corporate trainer
  • Clear explanation of applicable EEOC standards, company policies, and Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS 659A.030)
  • Pre-training and post-training assessments (included for HR documentation)
  • Written compliance summary with professional recommendations
  • Review of “Zero Tolerance” policy expectations and consequences of future misconduct
  • Optional follow-up progress monitoring and direct reporting to HR/management

A session of training shall correct behavior and/or impart knowledge. We adopt a method that makes the employee fully comprehend the consequences of the behavior, and therefore the standards they must uphold in order to remain employed.

No generalized seminars on preventing harassment are conducted. Interventions are specifically targeted after verified employee misconduct.

Why Oregon Employers Choose Our Services

When harassment is proven, Oregon State law requires employers to take “prompt and appropriate remedial action” against it. Otherwise, if there is any failure to act, particularly when the victim is not terminated, there can be new legal exposure. Our sessions provide for employers to:

  • Document the disciplinary steps taken.
  • Meet Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) expectations.
  • Re-establish authority and control in the workplace.

Our course development team works with law firms, HR departments, and the Oregon business community in Portland, Eugene, and Salem. Our training staff has experience training both union and non-union environments.
